AkzoNobel, headquartered in the Netherlands, is a multi-national company with a global presence and market-leading positions in paints & coatings. The central Treasury function is responsible for Treasury and Insurance for the global group.

The head of the Americas regional team reports to the Head of Business Treasury and acts as a business partner for the businesses operating in the Americas. This role is key in translating the global treasury agenda to the business; the role özgü 5 direct reports, including an intern position in Sao Paulo.

Key Objectives Key objectives of this role are to manage the delivery of all treasury processes for the region: Lead the team.

Business partnering; train, educate and create awareness within the business and Global Business Services to secure compliance, standardization and continuous improvement for all treasury processes and support the business in performance improvement projects.

Active bank and stakeholder relationship management.
Deliver best in class treasury processes and expertise to the business in terms of risk management, cash management, trade finance and bank management.
Optimal funding of the legal entities in the region.
Manage non-centralized treasury operations.
Support the business in restructuring and M&A projects.

Maintain and further improve Treasury governance.

Business Partnering
Act as the treasury focal point for various business units, functions, banks, service centers, and regulators.
Review and approve investment and business proposals from a treasury perspective.
Support change management processes and projects to meet Finance targets, such as ERP harmonization, legal entity reduction, and process standardization.
Implement and embed new rules, guidelines, and processes; educate the business to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Active Bank Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with banks, service providers, regulators, and peers.

Best-in-Class Treasury Processes
Foreign Currency Risk Management: Provide training, identify exposures, advise on deals, and set up effective local exposure management processes.
Cash Management: Ensure efficient processes for daily transactions, adherence to controls, and maintain effective relationships with cash management banks.
Trade Finance: Guide and support the execution of trade finance products.

Bank Management: Engage with banks to ensure optimal support at minimal costs.

Optimal Funding of Legal Entities
Prepare inter-company funding plans in consultation with tax, legal, and accounting departments.
Maintain optimal cash balances through liquidity planning and cooperation with the business.

Work with Tax and Legal for effective structuring and tax optimization.

Operations
Manage regional liquidity and cash positions.
Oversee non-centralized daily operations, including liquidity management and payment processing.

Implement continuous improvements to banking software, systems, and structures.

M&A Transactions, Large Capex, and Restructuring
Support special transactions with deal structuring, valuation, and funding.

Coordinate treasury aspects of disentanglement/integration and manage financial exposures.

Governance
Deploy and ensure adherence to group treasury policies.
Build regional treasury knowledge through participation in the Finance Academy and training programs.

Ensure compliance through engagement, control measures, and audit reviews; process policy exception requests.

Job Requirements Skills and experience

An in-depth knowledge of, and a proven track record of success in, treasury management functions in a comparable high-profile organization.
A proven track record of undertaking financial analysis, complex modelling and providing financial advice to people in senior management roles.
A deep knowledge of international cash management processes, trade finance, risk management and corporate finance / tax planning.
Experience in working with SAP and treasury management systems.
Social and communication skills and intellect to keep abreast with all functional matters and how they interlink.

Professional qualifications in finance or treasury management.

Personal characteristics
